Deadpool (2016)

I know, I know... every big review site out there had something to say about Deadpool. But I'm going to give my opinion as someone who had no earthly idea who the comic book character was outside of what his costume looked like.

That being said, I expected a Batman or Superman with some profanity and maybe a bit more blood than usual to merit the R rating.  Instead, I was really surprised, and that surprise is the good kind.

First of all, I'm really glad that this was an origin story. I was a little worried that it wasn't with the opening scene, but that quickly changed.

I really loved the twisted humor, and the dialog was just wonderful. I suppose that the character from the source material isn't too different, but for people like me who aren't avid comic readers, it's nice to know that there's a very adult-oriented antihero running around the Marvel universe.

Visually, it's a lot of fun to watch. I'm normally not big on CGI, so an entirely CGI character took a bit to overcome, but I can't say that there was any character that I didn't enjoy.

Some of the visual effects were a little rough, but that's forgivable. (That could also be my aforementioned disliking for CGI.)

The humor can get pretty lowbrow and very intentionally vulgar, so not a kid's movie by any stretch of the imagination.
